We believe our dental office should strive to produce less waste and to have a more eco-friendly environment. We believe that it is part of our job to be environmental stewards.
What is eco-dentistry or green dentistry?
Green dentistry is a new approach to tooth care that reduces the environmental impact of dentistry. Additionally the environmentally friendly solution is typically higher tech and lower cost. So your oral care is benefited as well your pocketbook and planet.
Green dentistry has the following goals:
- Our office has been designed to maximize energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.
- We strive to use environmentally friendly dental processes and materials.
- Our office administration and future marketing endeavors and geared toward the three R's - reduce, reuse, and recycle.
How are we green?
- Our Digital Imaging is used in place of traditional X-Rays. This results in up to 90% less radiation exposure and reduces toxic fixer solutions and lead foils.
- Autoclave - Use of steam-based, surgical-grade instrument sterilization, reduces water use and harmful chemicals and eliminate need for external ventilation for vapor discharge.
- Biodegradable sterilization solutions are used for cleaning thus reducing toxins introduced into the water supply.
- Special water filtration system allows for the environmentally sound disposal of old mercury fillings, to prevent pollution of our local water ways.
